Rose O’Neill began her career in illustration in the age of pen and ink. She was able to create such beautiful ink drawings that today you would hardly miss the color. Much of her early pen and ink work was done for Puck magazine. As the technology developed women’s magazines began to print in the two-color method and then later full color. The examples shown here show this progression.
