About Linda Brewster

Born in Dallas , Texas , Linda started studying art at a very early age and won her first award as an adult at age twelve at the Texas State Fair. She didn’t even know it because her art teacher had entered her work in the competition without her knowledge. It wasn’t until her Dad took her to the fair did she learn about the award and the seven others she received for each day of the fair from a public vote.

The family moved often so Linda picked up classes as she could, but much of her education was self-taught. When the family moved to Branson , Missouri before it became the well-known resort area, Linda learned that Rose O’Neill, the famous artist, had lived near by. Linda met Mary Trimble near her home that made it her quest to collect everything Rose O’Neill. The last home where Rose O’Neill had lived burned to the ground in 1946 many years before. Linda visit the museum which Mary Trimble had started quite often and was intrigued to find out that Rose O’Neill was mostly self-taught as she had been and that began a life long interest.

After leaving, the area to start her on family Linda took classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia . She became involved in the art scene and served in many position to advocate for artist.  During this time she won many awards for her work and her interested in her old mentor was revived. Linda started studying the children’s book market as Rose O’Neill had pursued. It was appropriate that Linda should write a book for young adult on the early life of Rose O’Neill mentor, artist, illustrator, and creator of the Kewpie Doll. Linda is working on articles and other books to be published in the future.
